9. Application Information

Important notice: Validation and testing are the most reliable ways to confirm system functionality. The

application information is not part of the specification and is for reference purposes only.

The DIO1408 is a high-precision sensor chip for temperature monitoring of the board location where the device

is mounted. The DIO1408 can change the SMbus (or I2C) address so as to monitor up to four locations on the

board with a single serial bus.

9.1. Design requirements

SCL and SDA pins need pullup resistors to V+ pin. On the

ALERT pin, there is an integrated 93 kΩ pullup

resistor connected to the supply. If a greater pullup to V+ is needed, use an external resistor (smaller value) on

the

_____

ALERT pin. With the pullup resistors, the SCL and SDA lines can be pulled up to a supply that is no less

than V+. Connect A0 to any one of V+, GND, SCL, or SDA to configure one of the four addresses on the bus.

Make sure that SCL or SDA's pullup supply is equivalent to V+ when A0 is connected to SCL or SDA.

9.2. Power supply recommendations

The operating power supply range of the DIO1408 is from 1.4 V to 3.6 V. Make sure that a power-supply bypass

capacitor (0.1 μF typically) is placed as close to the supply and ground pins of the device as possible.
