Memory mapping
The LRI2K integrates a true standardized EAS (electronic article surveillance) function
based on the AFI/EAS register. The EAS function serves anti-theft purposes. It is activated
and deactivated using ISO standard commands.
As shown in Table 1, the LRI2K is divided into two memory areas, one that stores user data,
the other that contains configuration data.
User data memory area
The user data memory area is further divided up into 64 blocks of 32 bits each. Each user
memory block can be individually write-protected using a standard Lock command. The
user data memory blocks are always accessible in Read mode. Write commands issued to
user data memory blocks are accepted if the blocks are not write-protected.
Using the 2048 user memory bits, the LRI2K supports EPC code storage with a length of up
to 256 bits.
Configuration data memory area
The Configuration data memory area stores:
●
a 64-bit unique identifier (UID)
●
a 32-bit Kill password used for data privacy protection
●
an 8-bit AFI/EAS register containing the application family identifier and the EAS bit
●
an 8-bit DSFID register containing the data storage format identifier used by the
anticollision algorithm.
The unique identifier (UID) of the LRI2K, set by ST, is compliant with the ISO 15963
description. Its value is used during the anti-collision sequence (Inventory) and cannot be
changed.
