Programming Considerations

TheTMCounterRegisters,theCapture/CompareCCRAregistersandtheTM1CCRPregisters,

beingeither16-bitor10-bit,allhavealowandhighbytestructure.Thehighbytescanbedirectly

accessed,butasthelowbytescanonlybeaccessedviaaninternal8-bitbuffer,readingorwriting

totheseregisterpairsmustbecarriedoutinaspecificway.Theimportantpointtonoteisthat

datatransfertoandfromthe8-bitbufferanditsrelatedlowbyteonlytakesplacewhenawrite

orreadoperationtoitscorrespondinghighbyteisexecuted.AstheCCRAandCCRPregisters

areimplementedinthewayshowninthefollowingdiagramandaccessingtheseregisterpairsis

carriedoutinaspecificwaydescribedabove,itisrecommendedtousethe“MOV”instructionto

accesstheCCRAorCCRPlowbyteregisters,namedTMxALorTMxRPL,usingthefollowing

accessprocedures.AccessingtheCCRAorCCRPlowbyteregisterwithoutfollowingtheseaccess

procedureswillresultinunpredictablevalues.
