Programming Considerations

CaremustbetakenthatdataisnotinadvertentlywrittentotheEEPROM.Protectioncanbe

enhancedbyensuringthattheWriteEnablebitisnormallyclearedtozerowhennotwriting.Also

theMemoryPointerhighbyteregister,MP1HorMP2H,couldbenormallyclearedtozeroasthis

wouldinhibitaccesstoSector1wheretheEEPROMcontrolregisterexists.Althoughcertainlynot

necessary,considerationmightbegivenintheapplicationprogramtothecheckingofthevalidityof

newwritedatabyasimplereadbackprocess.

WhenwritingdatatheWRbitmustbesethighimmediatelyaftertheWRENbithasbeensethigh,

toensurethewritecycleexecutescorrectly.TheglobalinterruptbitEMIshouldalsobecleared

beforeawritecycleisexecutedandthenre-enabledafterthewritecyclestarts.Notethatthese

devicesshouldnotentertheIDLEorSLEEPmodeuntiltheEEPROMreadorwriteoperationis

totallycomplete.Otherwise,theEEPROMreadorwriteoperationwillfail.
