Interrupts

Interruptsareanimportantpartofanymicrocontrollersystem.Whenanexternaleventoran

internalfunctionsuchasaTimerModuleoranA/Dconverterrequiresmicrocontrollerattention,

theircorrespondinginterruptwillenforceatemporarysuspensionofthemainprogramallowingthe

microcontrollertodirectattentiontotheirrespectiveneeds.Thesedevicescontainseveralexternal

interruptandinternalinterruptsfunctions.Theexternalinterruptsaregeneratedbytheactionofthe

externalINT0~INT1pins,whiletheinternalinterruptsaregeneratedbyvariousinternalfunctions

suchastheTMs,TimeBases,LVD,EEPROMandtheA/Dconverter.

Interrupt Registers

Overallinterruptcontrol,whichbasicallymeansthesettingofrequestflagswhencertain

microcontrollerconditionsoccurandthesettingofinterruptenablebitsbytheapplication

program,iscontrolledbyaseriesofregisters,locatedintheSpecialPurposeDataMemory.The

numberofregistersdependsupontheselecteddevicebutfallintothreecategories.Thefirstisthe

INTC0~INTC3registerswhichsetuptheprimaryinterrupts,thesecondistheMFI0~MFI1registers

whichsetuptheMulti-functioninterrupts.FinallythereisanINTEGregistertosetuptheexternal

interrupttriggeredgetype.

Eachregistercontainsanumberofenablebitstoenableordisableindividualregistersaswellas

interruptflagstoindicatethepresenceofaninterruptrequest.Thenamingconventionofthese

followsaspecificpattern.Firstislistedanabbreviatedinterrupttype,thenthe(optional)numberof

thatinterruptfollowedbyeitheran"E"forenable/disablebitor"F"forrequestflag.
