The main error of the measurement is due to the error of the pulse width that the comparator can resolve. Suppose the error is 100ns and the input frequency is 100KHz. We can divide the square wave into 1000 segments (1000 counts), and thus each count takes 10 ns. Therefore the maximum error in Duty Cycle measurement is (100ns/10ns)=10 Counts. 50% duty cycle signal can be measured to 50.0%±1.0%. The signal may not be measured if the duty cycle is more than 99% or less than 1%, and the measurement will display 0.00%. |
