14 / 39 page  STM8TL5xxx sensitivity setting AN4038 14/39 Doc ID 022686 Rev 1 3.3 Detection threshold The detection threshold (Dth) is the minimum value between the reference and the current signal necessary to report a proximity detection. The Dth directly influences the detection distance of the system. The lower Dth is, the higher the detection distance is. Figure 11 shows the detection distance versus the Dth. This test was performed using sensor #10 (see Figure 2). Figure 11. Detection distance versus detection threshold The Dth value should be set higher than the noise amplitude to filter environmental noise signals and to guarantee the stability of the system.
