Thefollowingexampleshowshowthetablepointerandtabledataisdefinedandretrievedfrom

themicrocontroller.ThisexampleusesrawtabledatalocatedintheProgramMemorywhichis

storedthereusingtheORGstatement.ThevalueatthisORGstatementis"1F00H"whichrefersto

thestartaddressofthelastpagewithinthe8KProgramMemoryofthedevice.Thetablepointeris

setupheretohaveaninitialvalueof"06H".Thiswillensurethatthefirstdatareadfromthedata

tablewillbeattheProgramMemoryaddress"1F06H"or6locationsafterthestartofthelastpage.

Notethatthevalueforthetablepointerisreferencedtothefirstaddressofthespecificpagepointed

bytheTBHPregisterifthe"TABRD[m]"instructionisbeingused.Thehighbyteofthetabledata

whichinthiscaseisequaltozerowillbetransferredtotheTBLHregisterautomaticallywhenthe

"TABRD[m]"instructionisexecuted.

BecausetheTBLHregisterisaread-onlyregisterandcannotberestored,careshouldbetaken

toensureitsprotectionifboththemainroutineandInterruptServiceRoutineusetableread

instructions.Ifusingthetablereadinstructions,theInterruptServiceRoutinesmaychangethe

valueoftheTBLHandsubsequentlycauseerrorsifusedagainbythemainroutine.Asaruleitis

recommendedthatsimultaneoususeofthetablereadinstructionsshouldbeavoided.However,in

situationswheresimultaneoususecannotbeavoided,theinterruptsshouldbedisabledpriortothe

executionofanymainroutinetable-readinstructions.Notethatalltablerelatedinstructionsrequire

twoinstructioncyclestocompletetheiroperation.
