Programming Considerations

TheTMCounterRegistersandtheCapture/CompareCCRAregisters,beingeither10-bitor16-

bit,andCCRPregisterpairforPeriodicTimerModule,being10-bit,allhavealowandhighbyte

structure.Thehighbytescanbedirectlyaccessed,butasthelowbytescanonlybeaccessedviaan

internal8-bitbuffer,readingorwritingtotheseregisterpairsmustbecarriedoutinaspecificway.

Theimportantpointtonoteisthatdatatransfertoandfromthe8-bitbufferanditsrelatedlowbyte

onlytakesplacewhenawriteorreadoperationtoitscorrespondinghighbyteisexecuted.

AstheCCRAandPTMCCRPregistersareimplementedinthewayshowninthefollowingdiagram

andaccessingtheregisteriscarriedoutinaspecificwaydescribedabove,itisrecommendedtouse

the"MOV"instructiontoaccesstheCCRAandPTMCCRPlowbyteregisters,namedTMnAL/

PTMnAL/STMnALandPTMnRPL,usingthefollowingaccessprocedures.AccessingtheCCRAor

PTMCCRPlowbyteregisterwithoutfollowingtheseaccessprocedureswillresultinunpredictable

values.
