UART

UART1, UART2 and UART3 are three different UART types used in the STM8S sub-families.

All the UARTs include common basic functions, but differ in the special features they

provide.

UART1 is present in the STM8S208x, STM8S207x and STM8S103x sub-families and it

offers the complete set of all UART features except LIN slave mode.

The LIN slave mode feature is present in UART2 and UART3. As the STM8S Performance

line devices (except the 32-pin device) include both UART1 and UART3 they are able to

cover all UART features.

UART2 is present in the STM8S105x sub-family only and it covers all features except single

wire half duplex mode.

Refer to the STM8S family reference manual (RM0016) and STM8S datasheets for more

detailed information.
