8.28 JEDEC ID (9Fh)
For compatibility reasons, the AT25QL641 provides several commands to electronically determine the identity of
the device. The Read JEDEC ID command is compliant with the JEDEC standard for SPI compatible serial Flash
memories that was adopted in 2003.
The command is entered by driving the CS pin low with following the command code 9Fh. The JEDEC assigned
Manufacturer ID byte for Renesas Electronics (1Fh) and two Device ID bytes, Memory Type (ID15-ID8) and
Capacity (ID7-ID0) are then shifted out on the falling edge of SCK with most significant bit (MSB) first shown in
Figure 49 and Figure 50. For memory type and capacity values, see Table 7. The JEDEC ID can be read
continuously. The command is terminated by driving CS high.
