Standard Type TM Operation Modes

TheStandardTypeTMcanoperateinoneoffiveoperatingmodes,CompareMatchOutputMode,

PWMOutputMode,SinglePulseOutputMode,CaptureInputModeorTimer/CounterMode.The

operatingmodeisselectedusingtheSTM1andSTM0bitsintheSTMC1register.

Compare Match Output Mode

Toselectthismode,bitsSTM1andSTM0intheSTMC1register,shouldbesetto00respectively.

Inthismodeoncethecounterisenabledandrunningitcanbeclearedbythreemethods.Theseare

acounteroverflow,acomparematchfromComparatorAandacomparematchfromComparatorP.

WhentheSTCCLRbitislow,therearetwowaysinwhichthecountercanbecleared.Oneiswhen

acomparematchfromComparatorP,theotheriswhentheCCRPbitsareallzerowhichallowsthe

countertooverflow.HerebothSTMAFandSTMPFinterruptrequestflagsforComparatorAand

ComparatorPrespectively,willbothbegenerated.

IftheSTCCLRbitintheSTMC1registerishighthenthecounterwillbeclearedwhenacompare

matchoccursfromComparatorA.However,hereonlytheSTMAFinterruptrequestflagwillbe

generatedevenifthevalueoftheCCRPbitsislessthanthatoftheCCRAregisters.Thereforewhen

STCCLRishighnoSTMPFinterruptrequestflagwillbegenerated.IntheCompareMatchOutput

Mode,theCCRAcannotbesetto“0”.

IftheCCRAbitsareallzero,thecounterwilloverflowwhenitsreachesitsmaximum16-bit,FFFF

Hex,value,howeverheretheSTMAFinterruptrequestflagwillnotbegenerated.

Asthenameofthemodesuggests,afteracomparisonismade,theSTMoutputpin,willchange

state.TheSTMoutputpinconditionhoweveronlychangesstatewhenaSTMAFinterruptrequest

flagisgeneratedafteracomparematchoccursfromComparatorA.TheSTMPFinterruptrequest

flag,generatedfromacomparematchoccursfromComparatorP,willhavenoeffectontheSTM

outputpin.ThewayinwhichtheSTMoutputpinchangesstatearedeterminedbytheconditionof

theSTIO1andSTIO0bitsintheSTMC1register.TheSTMoutputpincanbeselectedusingthe

STIO1andSTIO0bitstogohigh,togolowortotogglefromitspresentconditionwhenacompare

matchoccursfromComparatorA.TheinitialconditionoftheSTMoutputpin,whichissetupafter

theSTONbitchangesfromlowtohigh,issetupusingtheSTOCbit.NotethatiftheSTIO1and

STIO0bitsarezerothennopinchangewilltakeplace.
