NORMAL Mode

Asthenamesuggeststhisisoneofthemainoperatingmodeswherethemicrocontrollerhasallof

itsfunctionsoperationalandwherethesystemclockisprovidedbyoneofthehighspeedoscillators.

Thismodeoperatesallowingthemicrocontrollertooperatenormallywithaclocksourcewillcome

fromoneofthehighspeedoscillators,eithertheHXT,ERC,ECorHIRCoscillators.Thehigh

speedoscillatorwillhoweverfirstbedividedbyaratiorangingfrom1to64,theactualratiobeing

selectedbytheLCKS2~LCKS0andHLCLKbitsintheSYSMODregister.Althoughahighspeed

oscillatorisused,runningthemicrocontrolleratadividedclockratioreducestheoperatingcurrent.

SLOW Mode

Thisisalsoamodewherethemicrocontrolleroperatesnormallyalthoughnowwithaslowerspeed

clocksource.Theclocksourceusedwillbefromthelowspeedoscillator,theLIRC.Runningthe

microcontrollerinthismodeallowsittorunwithmuchloweroperatingcurrents.IntheSLOW

Mode,thefHisoff.

SLEEP0 Mode

TheSLEEPModeisenteredwhenanHALTinstructionisexecutedandwhentheIDLENbitinthe

SYSMODregisterislow.IntheSLEEP0modetheCPUwillbestopped,andthefSUBandfSclocks

willbestoppedtoo,andtheWatchdogTimerfunctionisdisabled.

SLEEP1 Mode

TheSLEEPModeisenteredwhenanHALTinstructionisexecutedandwhentheIDLENbitinthe

SYSMODregisterislow.IntheSLEEP1modetheCPUwillbestopped.HoweverthefSUBandfS

clockswillcontinuetooperateiftheWatchdogTimerfunctionisenabled.

IDLE0 Mode

TheIDLE0ModeisenteredwhenaHALTinstructionisexecutedandwhentheIDLENbitinthe

SYSMODregisterishighandtheFSYSONbitintheCTRLregisterislow.IntheIDLE0Modethe

systemoscillatorwillbeinhibitedfromdrivingtheCPUbutsomeperipheralfunctionswillremain

operationalsuchastheWatchdogTimerandTimeBase.IntheIDLE0Mode,theWatchdogTimer

clockfSwillbeon.

IDLE1 Mode

TheIDLE1ModeisenteredwhenanHALTinstructionisexecutedandwhentheIDLENbitinthe

SYSMODregisterishighandtheFSYSONbitintheCTRLregisterishigh.IntheIDLE1Mode

thesystemoscillatorwillbeinhibitedfromdrivingtheCPUbutmaycontinuetoprovideaclock

sourcetokeepsomeperipheralfunctionsoperationalsuchastheWatchdogTimerandTimeBase.In

theIDLE1Mode,thesystemoscillatorwillcontinuetorun,andthissystemoscillatormaybehigh

speedorlowspeedsystemoscillator.IntheIDLE1ModetheWatchdogTimerclockfSwillbeon.
