Data Memory

TheDataMemoryisavolatileareaof8-bitwideRAMinternalmemoryandisthelocationwhere

temporaryinformationisstored.Thedatamemoryisdividedintotwobanks,Bank0andBank1.The

Bank0issubdividedintotwosections;thefirstoftheseisanareaofRAMwherespecialfunction

registersarelocated.Theseregistershavefixedlocationsandarenecessaryforcorrectoperationof

thedevice.Manyoftheseregisterscanbereadfromandwrittentodirectlyunderprogramcontrol,

however,someremainprotectedfromusermanipulation.ThesecondareaofDataMemoryis

reservedforgeneralpurposeuse.Inaddition,theBank1isdedicatedfortheUSBrelatedregisters.

AlllocationswithinthisDataMemoryarereadandwriteaccessibleunderprogramcontrol.

Structure

TheDataMemoryissubdividedintotwobanks,allofwhichareimplementedin8-bitwideRAM.

TheDatamemorylocatedinBank0issubdividedintotwosections,theSpecialPurposeandGeneral

PurposeDataMemory.

ThestartaddressoftheDataMemoryforalldevicesistheaddress“00H”.Registerswhichare

commontoallmicrocontrollers,suchasACC,PCL,etc.,havethesameDataMemoryaddress.The

USBcontrolregistersismappedintoBank1.

General Purpose Data Memory

Allmicrocontrollerprogramsrequireanareaofread/writememorywheretemporarydatacanbe

storedandretrievedforuselater.ItisthisareaofRAMmemorythatisknownasGeneralPurpose

DataMemory.ThisareaofDataMemoryisfullyaccessiblebytheuserprogramforbothreadand

writeoperations.Byusingthe"SET[m].i"and"CLR[m].i"instructions,individualbitscanbeset

orresetunderprogramcontrolgivingtheuseralargerangeofflexibilityforbitmanipulationinthe

DataMemory.
