Each DAC channel (VOUTx) has a digital attenuator function. The attenuation level can be set from 0 dB to –100 dB in 0.5-dB steps, and also can be set to infinite attenuation (mute). The attenuation level change from current value to target value is performed by incrementing or decrementing with s-curve responses and a time set by ATSPDA. While an attenuation level change sequence is in progress, new processing of the attenuation level change for new commands are ignored; any new commands are overwritten into the command buffer. The last command for the attenuation level change is performed after the present attenuation level change sequence is finished. The attenuation level for each channel can be set individually using the following formula; the table below shows attenuation levels for various settings. Attenuation level (dB) = 0.5 × (ATDAx[7:0]DEC – 255), where ATDAx[7:0]DEC = 0 through 255 for ATDAx[7:0]DEC = 0 through 54, attenuation is set to infinite attenuation (Mute). ATDA0[7:0] are used to control all channels at the same time with attenuation data of ATDA0[7:0] + ATDAx[7:0] in decibel number, when ATMDDA is set to 1. This scheme provides preset and master volume operation. Default value: 1111 1111.
