ThePCR7~PCR0bitsintheANCSR0registerandPCR8bitintheANCSR1register,determine whethertheinputpinsaresetupasA/Dconverteranaloginputsorwhethertheyhaveother functions.IfthePCR8~PCR0bitsforitscorrespondingpinissethighthenthepinwillbesetupto beanA/Dconverterinputandtheoriginalpinfunctionsdisabled.Inthisway,pinscanbechanged underprogramcontroltochangetheirfunctionbetweenA/Dinputsandotherfunctions.Allpull- highresistors,whicharesetupthroughregisterprogramming,willbeautomaticallydisconnectedif thepinsaresetupasA/Dinputs.NotethatitisnotnecessarytofirstsetuptheA/Dpinasaninputin thePACorPBCportcontrolregisterstoenabletheA/DinputaswhenthePCR8~PCR0bitsenable anA/Dinput,thestatusoftheportcontrolregisterwillbeoverridden. Summary of A/D Conversion Steps Thefollowingsummarisestheindividualstepsthatshouldbeexecutedinordertoimplementan A/Dconversionprocess. • Step 1 SelecttherequiredA/DconversionclockbycorrectlyprogrammingbitsADCK2~ADCK0inthe ADCR1register. • Step 2 EnabletheA/DbyclearingtheADOFFbitintheADCR0registertozero. • Step 3 SelectwhichchannelistobeconnectedtotheinternalA/Dconverterbycorrectlyprogramming theACS3~ACS0bitswhicharealsocontainedintheADCR0register. • Step 4 SelectwhichpinsaretobeusedasA/Dinputsandconfigurethembycorrectlyprogrammingthe PCR7~PCR0bitsintheANCSR0registerandPCR8intheANCSR1. • Step 5 SelectwhichtriggercircuitistobeusedbycorrectlyprogrammingtheADSTSbitsinthe ADCR1. • Step 6 Iftheinterruptsaretobeused,theinterruptcontrolregistersmustbecorrectlyconfiguredto ensuretheA/Dconverterinterruptfunctionisactive.Themasterinterruptcontrolbit,EMI,and theA/Dconverterinterruptbit,AEOCE,mustbothbesethightodothis. • Step 7 Ifthestep5selectsADSTRtriggercircuit,theanalogtodigitalconversionprocesscanbe initialisedbysettingtheADSTRbitintheADCR0registerfromlowtohighandthenlowagain.
