Variousoscillatoroptionsoffertheuserawiderangeoffunctionsaccordingtotheirvarious

applicationrequirements.Theflexiblefeaturesoftheoscillatorfunctionsensurethatthebest

optimisationcanbeachievedintermsofspeedandpowersaving.Oscillatorselectionsandoperation

areselectedthroughacombinationofconfigurationoptionsandregisters.

Oscillator Overview

Inadditiontobeingthesourceofthemainsystemclocktheoscillatorsalsoprovideclocksources

fortheWatchdogTimerandTimeBaseInterrupt.Fullyintegratedinternaloscillators,requiringno

externalcomponents,areprovidedtoformawiderangeofbothfastandslowsystemoscillators.

Thehigherfrequencyoscillatorprovideshigherperformancebutcarrywithitthedisadvantageof

higherpowerrequirements,whiletheoppositeisofcoursetrueforthelowerfrequencyoscillators.

Withthecapabilityofdynamicallyswitchingbetweenfastandslowsystemclock,thisdevicehave

theflexibilitytooptimizetheperformance/powerratio,afeatureespeciallyimportantinpower

sensitiveportableapplications.
