Theprotectionfeaturesare: 1.AnexternaledgetriggeronthePausepin-edgetrigger 2.AnexternalleveltriggeronFaultpin-leveltrigger 3.Stalldetectionfunction 4.Overcurrentprotection 5.Turnoffthemotorusingsoftware Whenthemotorprotectioncircuitison,theexternalGateDrivetransistorpaircanbeputintotwo differentprotectionmodes.ThefirstistheBrakeModewhichiswherethetoparmisoffandthe bottomarmison,andthesecondistheFreeRunningModewherebothtopandbottomarmsareoff. TheFMOSbitintheMCFregisterdetermineswhichtypeisused. Themotorprotectioncircuitoperatesintwomodes,whichisselectedbytheMPTC2register.One modeistheFaultModeandtheotherisPauseMode.IntheFaultMode,activatingtheprotect functionisdeterminedbythetriggersourcestartingstatus.Endingtheprotectfunctionisdetermined bythetriggersourcedisarmingstatus.InthePauseMode,turningontheprotectfunctionis determinedbythetriggersource.Endingtheprotectionfunctionisdeterminedbysoftware. Fault Pin Function TheFaultPinisusedtodetectwhetheranexternalcircuithasdetectedamotorstallorovercurrent condition.ThepinisaleveltriggertypeandisactivelowandPROTECTis"1".TheFaultpinand PROTECTarecontrolledbyFLTHEbitintheMPTC1register. Pause Pin Function ThePausepinisusedtodetectwhetheranexternalcircuithasdetectedamotorstallorovercurrent condition.ThePausepinisedgetriggeredandPROTECTis"1".ItwillcausetheexternalGate Drivertobeshutdown.ThePausepinModeconditionisdeterminedbythePSWD/PSWE/PSWPS bitsandPROTECTis"0",thentheexternalGateDrivercircuitiscontrolledbytheHallSensor Decodercircuit.ThePausepinfunctioniscontrolledbythePAUHEandPAUTSbitsintheMPTC1 andMPTC2registers. Current Protection Function Asthedevicecontainsa10-bitA/DConverter,an8-bitD/AConverterandanamplifier,theycan beusedtogethertomeasurethemotorcurrentandtodetectforexcessivecurrentvalues.Ifanover currentsituationshouldoccur,thentheexternaldrivecircuitcanbeshutdownimmediatelyto preventmotordamage. TheInt_AHL_LiMOShasacurrentlimitprotectionmechanism.DisabletheH/WModewhen AHLHEis"0"andenabletheH/WModewhenAHLHEis"1".Thelimitedcurrentcircuitisa hardwarecircuit,forwhichtheA/Dconverterchannelmustselecttheoperationamplifiertobe active.Ifthereisanovercurrentduringsystemstartup,thenthiscurrentlimitcircuitshouldbe disabled.
