LAB-Wide Control Signals Logic Element The LE, the smallest unit of logic in the Mercury architecture, is compact and provides efficient logic usage. Each LE contains a four-input LUT, which is a function generator that can quickly implement any function of four variables. In addition, each LE contains a programmable register and carry chain with carry select look ahead capability. Each LE drives all interconnect types: local interconnect, row and priority row interconnect, column and priority column interconnect, leap lines, and RapidLAB interconnect. Each LE also has the ability to drive its combinatorial output directly to the next LE in the LAB using FastLUT connections. See Figure 7.
